Thought I Knew You
I Thought I Knew You is a series of small sculptures created in Carillo Puerto, Chiapas during the artists 2-week residency at Dedazo in 2017. During the residency, Cobb experimented with creating forms that seem soft, flexible, and squishy while using the rigid material of concrete. The forms pile and lie on top on one another in small groups cuddling and holding one another. The soft gray patina matches both the walls and the floor, they appear to belong in the space. However, the soft fluid curves are a contrast in this environment creating a sense of uneasiness.
